Understanding Quantity

At Value Teas, we make it easy to understand how much tea you're getting and how many servings it provides. Here's a breakdown:

Quantity Equivalent Servings Supply Price per Cup
60g 30 cups 1 month supply 25 cents
250g 125 cups 4.16 month supply 20 cents

For our standard 60g and 250g quantities, you can easily calculate the number of servings, supply duration, and price per cup using the provided formula. Each cup of tea is equivalent to 2g, which is approximately 1 heaping teaspoon.

Sample packs follow the same formula as our standard quantities.

EXCEPTION: Please note that for peppermint and sleepy time chamomile, these teas are more fluffy and voluminous, resulting in different quantities:

Tea Storage and Steeping Instructions

Tea Storage

Tea is surprisingly durable. Some teas can age for over a decade and still taste excellent. In fact, some aged teas are highly sought after and can be quite valuable. Proper storage helps, but tea doesn't truly expire.

If properly harvested and processed, tea leaves can remain in good condition for more than 20 years. Only flavored or blended teas with added essential oils might lose their aroma if not sealed correctly.

So, don't stress too much about storage. Use an airtight container, if possible, and store it in your cupboard. You can even repurpose an existing container.

Steeping Tips

Discovering your perfect cup of tea is an enjoyable journey. Experimenting with steeping times and techniques is part of the fun.

Steeping tea for about 2 minutes extracts most of the caffeine, tannins, and flavors. Longer steeping results in stronger caffeine content and a more bitter, astringent taste.

Hold your glass to the light while steeping to observe the gradual release of the tea liquor, the "tea elixir," from the leaves. It's a fascinating sight.

Tea Steeping Guidelines

Remember, these are just suggested starting points. To truly become a tea connoisseur, you'll need to experiment and find your own preferences.

Think of it as a rite of passage. You're not a true tea drinker until you no longer need a "tea steeping guide." Until then, you're just dipping your toes. Embrace the journey and enjoy the process of discovering the perfect cup of tea.
